Projects using this methodology m= ay be eligible to supply credits for use under CORSIA=2C if they have the= necessary host country government authorization. Airlines can purchase th= ese credits to meet their CORSIA offsetting requirements while supporting= improved rice cultivation practices. Congratulations to the Brazil Cerrado 1 project (Verra Project 5511 (https= ://registry.verra.org/app/projectDetail/VCS/5511) )=2C which is the first= project to be approved (https://verra.org/verra-approves-first-credits-un= der-vm0047-arr-methodology/) for credit issuance under Verra's afforestati= on=2C reforestation=2C and revegetation (ARR) methodology=2C VM0047=2C v1.= 0. The project can now be issued 230=2C120 Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) to= support its work across the Brazilian states of Mato Grosso do Sul=2C Mat= o Grosso=2C and Minas Gerais. Registered jointly with the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Climate=2C= Community & Biodiversity Standards (CCBS) Programs=2C the Brazil Cerrado= 1 project restores degraded cattle pasture=2C which was previously subjec= t to repeated clearing cycles=2C through a combination of native ecosystem= restoration and sustainable forest management activities that are certifi= ed under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Currently=2C 24=2C119 hecta= res are under the project's management=2C with over 15 million trees plant= ed and 505 species identified in this biodiverse area. The project also pr= ioritizes community engagement=2C including through a native seed collecti= on program that provides training and meaningful income to local residents= =2E Over its first 20-year crediting period=2C the project is expected to remo= ve approximately 7.0 million tonnes of CO[2] equivalent (around 351=2C328= tonnes annually) from the atmosphere and restore up to 25=2C000 hectares= of forest cover. In doing so=2C it will continue to support local communi= ties through employment=2C training=2C and livelihood programs=2C as well= as enhance biodiversity conservation in the Cerrado biome. Congratu= lations to the=C2=A0Brazil Cerrado 1 project=C2=A0(Verra Proje= ct 5511)=2C which is the first project to be approved for credit iss= uance under Verra's afforestation=2C reforestation=2C and revegetation (AR= R) methodology=2C VM0047=2C v1.0. The project can now be issued 230=2C120 Ver= ified Carbon Units (VCUs) to support its work across the Brazilian states= of Mato Grosso do Sul=2C Mato Grosso=2C and Minas Gerais.

=C2=A0

Register= ed jointly with the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Climate=2C Communit= y & Biodiversity Standards (CCBS) Programs=2C the Brazil Cerrado 1 pro= ject restores degraded cattle pasture=2C which was previously subject to r= epeated clearing cycles=2C through a combination of native ecosystem resto= ration and sustainable forest management activities that are certified und= er the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Currently=2C 24=2C119 hectares ar= e under the project's management=2C with over 15 million trees planted and= 505 species identified in this biodiverse area. The project also prioriti= zes community engagement=2C including through a native seed collection pro= gram that provides training and meaningful income to local residents.

=C2= =A0

Over its first 20-year crediting period=2C the project is expected to= remove approximately 7.0 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent (around 351= =2C328 tonnes annually) from the atmosphere and restore up to 25=2C000 hec= tares of forest cover. In doing so=2C it will continue to support local co= mmunities through employment=2C training=2C and livelihood programs=2C as= well as enhance biodiversity conservation in the Cerrado biome.
